Local wineries present their finest wines and latest vintages, accompanied by regional delicacies, live music, and the opportunity to meet the winemakers. A memorable event for anyone wishing to experience authentic wine traditions and local hospitality.
St. Magdalener Aperitivo
South Tyrolean Wine Culture in the Heart of Bolzano
On 4 September 2026, the St. Magdalener Aperitivo will take place for the first time in Walther Square, in the heart of Bolzano. Set in a charming atmosphere with live music and a flower-decorated stage, the event celebrates St. Magdalener, one of South Tyrol's oldest and most versatile native wines.
During this extended aperitivo, visitors can enjoy tastings and discover the unique character of this traditional red wine, grown on the sunny slopes north of Bolzano. The favourable climate and the traditional addition of a small proportion of Lagrein give the wine its fresh and balanced flavour. Around twenty family-run wineries will showcase their wines and welcome guests to experience this local specialty.
Jenesien Cattle Drive

On 17 October 2026, the traditional Jenesien Cattle Drive celebrates the return of beautifully decorated cattle from the mountain pastures after a successful summer. Accompanied by local farmers, music, and regional food, the event honours a long-standing Alpine custom and expresses gratitude for a safe grazing season. Visitors can experience authentic South Tyrolean traditions and the unique atmosphere of rural mountain life.
Törggelen Season in Jenesien
Taste of South Tyrolean Traditione
From early October to mid-November, Jenesien celebrates the traditional Törggelen season, a custom that originated from tasting the first young wine after the grape harvest. Today, cosy farmhouse inns serve hearty South Tyrolean specialities such as dumplings, Schlutzkrapfen, cured meats, homemade sausages with sauerkraut, roasted chestnuts, and sweet pastries. Paired with new wine, Törggelen is a unique celebration of local traditions, hospitality, and authentic autumn flavours.
